Apple unleashed the new OLED iPad mini this week and pre-orders are now live, but it also upped its mini case game. For the first time in a long time, Apple is bring a more premium case to its iPad lineup and we are not talking about a wildly pricey keyboard cover here – the new TechWoven iPad mini case has arrived at $79 and I’m really loving what I’m seeing here.
Apple has introduced the new Apple Smart Folio for iPad mini with that sweet TechWoven treatment. In comes in Navy and Taupe to match the new OLED mini’s Midnight and Starlight paint jobs. While some third-party listings seem to suggest it is compatible with previous-generation models, Apple specifically states that it is only compatible with the new OLED A20 Pro mini – the new OLED mini is slightly smaller in all directions than the two previous-generation models.
The TechWoven Smart Folio features a new “two-panel architecture” that magnetically attaches to your iPad mini. The panel action provides a “greater range of motion” for what Apple calls new viewing angles – it appears to be a little more versatile in terms of the various angles you can perch your mini Apple tablet up.
The Smart Folio for iPad mini is thin and light and offers front and back protection for your device. It automatically wakes your iPad when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. The Smart Folio attaches magnetically, and you can easily fold it into different positions to create a stand for reading, viewing, typing, drawing, or making FaceTime calls.
