Nintendo’s next update to the Switch Online Game Boy library brings three games with very different ways to spend a short play session: a possession-based action game, a puzzle adventure starring a digging mole, and a pinball game. Mole Mania, Avenging Spirit and Revenge of the ‘Gator are scheduled to arrive on October 27.

The additions aren’t headline entries from Nintendo’s biggest series. Their appeal is in the range of ideas: one asks players to take over enemies, another builds its challenges around moving balls and digging through soil, and the third turns a Game Boy screen into a compact pinball table. For subscribers looking for older games between larger releases, that variety may matter more than franchise recognition.

A free trial is available again

Nintendo says players can start another free seven-day trial of an Individual Membership even if they’ve used a trial before. The company described the offer as a way to try the membership’s benefits, including online play in compatible games. Its post was dated October 20, 2026.

The source doesn’t spell out further eligibility details or say whether the trial includes every membership feature, so players should check the terms shown when they sign up. Still, letting previous trial users try the service again changes who can make use of the offer. It gives lapsed players a fresh window to explore the membership as the three Game Boy titles arrive.

If you want to play online in compatible games, you can test out the benefits of a #NintendoSwitchOnline Individual Membership with a free 7-day trial. And now you can start another free trial even if you’ve already tried it!

Three games, three different hooks

Avenging Spirit starts with a supernatural premise and turns it into its central mechanic. After the hero is killed by a criminal syndicate, he returns as a ghost and sets out to rescue his girlfriend, who has been taken to pressure her scientist father. Players possess and control other characters across six stages. That system gives the action its defining twist: progress depends on using the abilities of the characters the ghost can inhabit.

The game’s story is framed around revenge and reunion, but its practical draw is the possession mechanic. Six stages give the quest a clear endpoint, while the promised moving ending supplies a payoff for finishing it. The source doesn’t list specific playable characters or explain how possession works in detail, so those parts will be best judged in the game itself.

Mole Mania puts Muddy Mole in a puzzle adventure against the farmer Jinbe. Its levels revolve around black balls that players can push, pull or throw to trap or defeat enemies. Digging adds another layer: Muddy can break through suitable soil and make underground routes toward the next area. Players also need to find strategic exits, solve the puzzles and defeat bosses before Muddy can reunite with his family.

There’s a two-player versus mode as well. Across two rounds, one player takes Muddy’s role and the other plays Jinbe; the match is decided by the number of cabbages dropped. That extra mode gives the game a competitive option beyond its solo puzzles, although the source doesn’t provide more detail about how a round plays out.

Revenge of the ‘Gator is the most immediately familiar concept: use flippers to keep a falling ball in play, aim for targets and send it through lanes to score. The game has four main stages and three bonus stages, each with its own objective. Players begin with three balls, and a ball reaching the Gator Stage ends that turn. Lose all the balls and the game is over.

Solo players can chase a place among the five highest scores. The game also includes two-player and Match Play modes, offering a way to compete with a friend. Its combination of short stages, score chasing and limited balls gives it a different rhythm from the longer puzzle and action challenges in the other two releases.

All three games arrive on October 27. The update gives the Game Boy library a small but varied selection: Avenging Spirit for its character-possession action, Mole Mania for its digging puzzles and versus play, and Revenge of the ‘Gator for portable pinball. The repeatable trial may also give former trial users a chance to try the membership around the time the games land.
