The new 24-inch iMac pairs Apple’s M6 chip with a 4.5K display, Wi-Fi 7 and a choice of two processor configurations. In the Philippines, the 10-core model starts at PHP 109,990, while the 12-core version starts at PHP 124,990. Both prices cover 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD; education pricing brings them to PHP 105,990 and PHP 117,990, respectively.

That price difference buys more than two additional CPU cores. The 12-core configuration also has four Thunderbolt 4 ports and includes a Touch ID keyboard. The 10-core model has two Thunderbolt ports, with Touch ID available through a configurable keyboard. Either version can connect to as many as two 6K external displays, so the choice will matter to people building a desk around multiple screens as well as those weighing the extra processing headroom.

Apple’s performance claims

Both versions include Neural Accelerators in every GPU core and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the M6 iMac can run apps such as Excel up to 2.5 times faster than an iMac with M1 and up to 1.5 times faster than one with M4. For graphics, the company claims gains of up to 3.3 times over M1 and up to twice the speed of M4.

Those are Apple’s comparisons, and the results will depend on the task and the machines being compared. The figures still give M1 owners a sense of the claimed generational jump, while the smaller stated gains over M4 make the case for upgrading less obvious for recent iMac buyers. Apple also reports up to 12 times faster on-device AI prompt processing than M1 and up to five times faster than M4 in LM Studio. In ray-traced games, it says the M6 is up to twice as fast as M4. People replacing an Intel-based iMac are promised up to 18 times faster performance than the “most popular” Intel model, though the source does not identify that configuration.

The display measures 23.5 inches diagonally and offers 4.5K resolution, 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide color and support for more than a billion colors. A nano-texture option is available on the 12-core model. That finish may be worth considering for desks where reflections are distracting, but the source does not provide a price for the option or describe its effect on the screen’s appearance.

Desk setup, ports and accessories

Connectivity gets a substantial update on paper: the iMac supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and its optional 2.5Gb Ethernet connection is rated at up to 2.5 times the speed of the previous generation. Apple also says SSD read and write speeds can reach twice those of the previous model. These changes may be most noticeable for people moving large files over a wired network or regularly working with demanding apps; the source gives no specific transfer rates.

The 12MP Center Stage camera supports Desk View, which can show a view of the user’s workspace during a call. Audio comes from two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and two tweeters, with Spatial Audio support. The included color-matched accessories are a Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad, each with USB-C ports. The 12-core model includes Touch ID as standard. Buyers choosing the 10-core configuration can add a Touch ID keyboard and numeric keypad.

Apple lists green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver finishes. The color-matched keyboard and pointing device make the iMac a coordinated desk setup, while the fixed all-in-one format keeps the display and computer together. For buyers who value a built-in screen and speakers, that’s a practical part of the package; people who want to change components individually will have less flexibility in this form factor.

The iMac runs macOS 27. Both base configurations start with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The source also lists options for 24GB of memory and storage capacities of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, but does not give their prices. Buyers who expect to keep large project libraries on the computer should check the cost of the storage capacity they need before comparing configurations.

Philippine pricing and availability

The 10-core iMac with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD costs PHP 109,990, or PHP 105,990 with education pricing. The 12-core model with the same memory and storage costs PHP 124,990, or PHP 117,990 with education pricing. Apple says the computer will be available soon at apple.com/ph and Apple Authorized Resellers; it has not provided a specific release date.

The most useful comparison for prospective buyers is between the two M6 configurations: the 12-core model adds ports and standard Touch ID alongside its higher core count, while the 10-core version has the lower starting price. The right fit depends on how much processing capacity and desk connectivity you need, and what the unlisted memory, storage and nano-texture options cost.
