Apple AirTag 2 Four-Pack Falls to AU$129, With Longer Finding Range and Louder Alerts

Apple’s AirTag 2 is easier to locate than the original, and its current four-pack price makes it a more practical buy for households tracking several everyday items. At Amazon Australia, the pack is AU$129, down from AU$165. That works out to AU$32.25 per tracker, compared with AU$37 for a discounted single unit.

The second-generation tracker arrived at the start of 2026 with a revised ultra-wideband chip and a louder speaker. Those changes address two useful parts of the experience: getting more help with precise location and hearing the tag when it’s nearby. For iPhone owners who often misplace keys, bags or other belongings, the upgrade is about reducing the effort involved in finding them.

What the four-pack price means

Apple AirTag 2 (four-pack): AU$129, down from AU$165

At AU$32.25 per AirTag, the four-pack costs less per tracker than the AU$37 discounted single. That lower per-unit price makes sense if you already have several items in mind: a set of keys, a suitcase, a wallet or a dog’s collar. Buying a pack also leaves room to keep one tracker ready for an item you don’t always carry.

AirTags work with Apple’s Find My app, which shows the tracker’s location on a map when you’ve been separated from the item. The basic appeal is simple: attach or place a small disc with something you might lose, then use your iPhone to help locate it. A tracker won’t prevent an item from going missing, but it can give you a clearer starting point when you need to search.

Longer range depends on your iPhone

Apple says the upgraded ultra-wideband chip lets compatible devices locate an AirTag 2 from up to 50% farther away than the previous tracker. That improvement requires an iPhone 15 or newer. Owners of older iPhones still get the new precision finding feature, but the range is limited to around nine metres, or 30 feet.

That compatibility detail matters when weighing the upgrade. The AirTag 2 can offer more range, but the full benefit depends on the phone you use. If your iPhone is older, the louder speaker remains an upgrade you can appreciate when the tag is close, while the expanded range won’t apply in the same way.

Apple has also made the speaker 50% louder. When an AirTag is nearby, you can ask it to play a sound and follow the alert. The first-generation model was already loud enough in the writer’s experience, but a stronger sound should make the last part of a search easier when a tracker is tucked into a bag or hidden among other belongings.

A practical upgrade to a familiar tracker

In a review of the AirTag 2, TechRadar found that both the improved finding range and louder speaker worked as intended. Those are focused changes rather than a new approach to item tracking: the tracker still relies on Apple’s Find My app, while the updated hardware aims to make locating it quicker and easier.

The writer’s experience with the first-generation AirTag shows why this kind of device can be useful beyond routine checks around the house. After losing a set of keys on a late-night walk, they opened Find My the next morning, saw where the keys were on the map and recovered them soon afterward. That account illustrates the value of having a location to investigate, though an AirTag can’t guarantee that every lost item will be recovered.

Battery replacement is another practical point. AirTag 2 continues to use a user-replaceable CR2032 battery, so the tracker doesn’t need to be discarded when its battery runs out. The writer reports owning first-generation trackers for almost three years, replacing the battery twice in the one used most often on house keys. Trackers used less frequently still had their original batteries and remained visible in Find My.

For iPhone owners who already know where they’d use several trackers, AU$129 for four is the clearest reason to consider the AirTag 2 now. The longer finding range is most relevant with an iPhone 15 or newer; the louder speaker and replaceable battery add practical value across the lineup. Key rings, straps and wallets are among the accessories available for fitting a tracker to different belongings.
